Document retention
How long a closed file keeps its documents, the warning, and the hold.
Privacy law asks you to keep personal information only as long as you need it. Foyer does that for you: once a client’s file is marked completed or archived, its documents live for the period you set, then go.
The setting
Under Settings, Retention, the account owner chooses 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, or never. Six months is the default and applies until you change it.
The warning
Two weeks before the date, the assigned agent gets an email naming the client and the date. Open the client and choose Keep 6 more months, as often as needed. Nothing is deleted less than a week after that email.
What goes and what stays
Deleted: the uploaded documents and photos, the application answers, and any live package links. Kept: the client, their contact details, messages, notes and reminders. You can also delete a file’s documents sooner from the client page.
The renter’s side
Renters see the rule on their Account page and can delete their own account, and everything in it, at any time.
